» WHAT IS WC?We Coexist is a multi-fandom role playing community. For a more complete summary click here!
» WHO CAN PLAY IN WCWe allow characters from almost any universe. For the few fandoms that we do not allow, please see our rules, here.
» WHAT IS THE CITY?The City is exactly that. A city. Only upper case. It's a place that draws in heroes and villains from all sorts of universes and any number of timelines and forces them to live together in one place.
» IS THERE A WALL?Why yes, there is a wall. The wall is at least ten feet thick, and hundreds of feet high. If you're standing on the ground looking up at it, you really can't see the top, even if you've got super vision. Your characters cannot fly or break through the wall, no matter how many superpowers they may posses. It's simply impossible. They might be able to get to the top of the wall, but they'll never get over it. Once you get to the top of the wall, a sort of invisible barrier starts, and they can't get through that any better than they can get through the wall itself. Your character cannot dig under the wall, they cannot phase through the wall. They cannot break the wall down. They cannot squeeze through a crack in the wall. They cannot teleport out. It is solid and impenetrable. Your character is stuck inside The City and there is no way out.
» WHAT IS BEHIND THE WALL?For those characters who might find a way to get to the top of the wall, they would find themselves looking out over a vast forest.
» AND WHAT IS THE FOREST?Just that. A forest. Although, if you spend too much time looking at the forest, you might get the sense that the forest is looking back at you. And maybe that the forest is breathing.
» HOW DOES THE CITY WORK?It's a normal city, set up with normal city things. Anything you have in your city, The City has. It also has some things that you might not have thought of.
» CAN MY CHARACTER GET A JOB?Certainly. The city is a functioning one, as as so, has a need for people to run it like a normal city would be run. If your character wants to get a job, by all means. Have them get one.
» HOW DOES MY CHARACTER GET FOOD?They go buy it, or The City makes it appear. Literally. Your character might think they have no food, and then when they go to look for some, all the shelves are full.
» AND MONEY?They can either earn it, or again, have it appear. If money does appear, however, it's for the specific amount that the character is looking for. If they're out shopping, the amount of money they have will equal the total on the register. Please don't be stupid and have your character wish for millions and have it appear. That's not fun.
» CAN I HAVE AN ORIGINAL CHARACTER?Nope! There are enough characters out there in the world that you should be able to find one that you like.
» WHY ARE THESE CHARACTERS IN THE CITYYou'll just have to play to find out, won't you?
» PLACES KEEP JUMPING AROUND, WHY IS THIS?Simple. The buildings move. The City shifts and changes. There are a few things that stay put, but most everything is always different.
» IF I'M BRINGING BACK A CHARACTER THAT'S ALREADY BEEN PLAYED, DO I HAVE TO KEEP THE STORY/PLOT THAT'S BEEN BUILT IN GAME?Nope. Even if you're the same person playing that character, you can choose to have your character come from a different place and enter the City having no knowledge of what went on before. This is the nature of the City. Just because a character has been in it before doesn't mean they're the same person they were the last time. If you WANT to keep what was done previously, that's fine, too. But it's by no means a requirement.
This makes WC a lot different from other games where if you pick up a character you have to study up on what went on with them previously. Here, that sort of thing doesn't matter. It actually makes for really interesting situations.
» CAN MY CHARACTER KNOW OF THE OTHER CHARACTERS IN GAME IF THEY'RE NOT THE SAME FANDOM?This is a rather touchy subject for a lot of people. Generally speaking, if you are SURE your character would know of another, if they come from a place/time that has access to comics or television or whathaveyou, please please please talk with the other player to make sure it's okay with them. Some people are perfectly fine with their character being common knowledge, others are not. So while it may not make as much sense for your character to be ignorant of another, we ask you to respect the wishes of the player.
» SO THERE'S A NEWSPAPER AND RADIO AND TELEVISION BROADCASTS GOING ON, CAN I JUST DO THIS?Actually, no. The characters that have access to this are ones that have been approved by the mods. The City runs most of these things, and they can't be tapped into by outside sources. The only part that characters of any type have been able to contribute to is the newspaper. You can write a letter to the editor, or you can send the mods an article you'd like to see published. You can also ask the mods if it's okay if your character can write for the paper. Just don't do anything without asking first.
Got any other questions? Ask! They might even end up here, in the F.A.Q.! We love questions.
