    LOCATIONS

» Arkham Asylum
Not every city has an asylum for the mentally ill, but then not every place needs one like this city does. The City does have its share of lunatics. Unfortunately before much use was made of the place Jack Napier killed its employees and took it over. Arkham is now his home and the City PD have been unable to remove him from it. Criminals aren't sent to Arkham any more, but rather kept in Police holding cells, which is beginning to be a problem, one that the City might take upon itself to eventually fix.

» The Bates Motel
This twelve cabin motel is owned and operated by Norman Bates, who both runs the motel while watching over his ailing mother. The motel offers comfortable and clean rooms for extremely competitive rates. If, by some twist of fate, a character can't find his home upon arival the Bates Motel will provide excellent lodgimgs and a guaranteed interesting time until they can find a place of their own.

» The City Botanical Gardens
These gardens rival those of the NYC Botanical Gardens, though if one looks carefully at the architecture, you'll see some bits of that building incorporated into that of The City's. They building houses many wings of different flowers from all over the world. Everything from plants of the deserts, to the wildflowers one can find on the Alaskan tundra, can be seen in the Botanical Gardens. They make an excellent trip if one is looking for something to do or a place to interact in, and the small fee is very much worth it.

» The City Commons
The commons is a very large park area situated in the middle of The City. Think in the vein of New York City's Central Park, parts of which are included in the commons. While walking around, one will also find sections of the park that resemble parks in Metropolis, Gotham, London, Star City, and many others. There's something to make everyone feel at home.

» The City Courts
Houses what would constitute both city and state courts (if they were in a place that had such) in the same big building, just different wings. The front section is all lobby and waiting area with chairs and some small booths for phone calls or meetings with lawyers. There are stairs that lead up to offices for the lawyers and judges. The entire right wing is devoted to 'city' court hearings, while the left wing is for 'state' court hearings. Stairs leading down take you to the city's jail, there are a few cells down there for long term keeping, and one for short term.

» The City Industries
City Industries is a combination of Lex Corp, Wayne Tech, and Stark Industries. Headquarters are housed in the tallest skyscraper in the City, and the building visible from just about every vantage point one could think of. The three CEOs, Bruce Wayne, Lex Luthor, and Tony Stark, are easily the richest and most well known men around.

» The City Institute
The City boasts an excellent school system that goes from Pre-K to the Graduate level, and it is all housed in one large brick laid complex. Given that there is no other schooling option, every school aged child born or pulled into the City attends the institute. The law is stringent on this and it's most likely that too many absence by any school aged character will result in a visit from the truant officer. Students are advanced and held back according to the grades they receive and some students may find themselves denied exit from high school simply depending on the City''s mood.

The school day runs from 8:45 to 12:45 for Pre-K and Kindergarten and 8:12 to 3:00 for 1st-12th grade. The college students' schedules fit to the classes they've signed up for or that the City had assigned them. For all students not in the college or graduate program, a uniform is provided and is required wear during the school day.

» The City Library
The City's place of knowledge, outside the Institute, houses texts from various times and of various kinds. Here, one might find the adventures of favorite comic book heroes. Or, one might read his personal experiences in detail in printed word. Or, one might even see Life on a TV screen. The Library's collection ranges from books to tape to cds to dvds; there might even be a few reel-to-reels or VHS tapes, maybe even a slide show or 8mm. Computers are available for Internet access.

At the moment, few programs are held for the public, but the Library is proud of its latest addition: a exhibition area. The City's citizens can experience vast cultural artifacts from different worlds, galaxies, and times. A list of possible artifacts for viewing can be found here.

» The City Opera House
Northwest of the City Commons, this grand theater is an exact representation of the Palais Garnier in Paris. Rumor has it that the place is as haunted as its counterpart is purported to be. No one has found evidence of secret passageways or trap doors, but the rumors of such things are also rampant.

» The City Police Department
Located in the heart of the city, the police department houses The City's Finest. If you have have a cop or police oriented character, the chances are, they'll find a desk, badge, and cup of coffee waiting for them when they arrive.

This building also houses the City's version of the FBI, CIA and other such institutions.

» The City Voice
New York wakes up to The NYTimes, The City wakes up to the Voice. The building stands downtown and houses a good 30 floors or cubicles, reporters, bullpens, and editors. It's a good place to find a job if you find yourself in need. There's always something that needs doing. Maybe you'll have the honor of fetching Clark Kent's coffee!

» The Clock Tower
The Clock Tower and the apartments below are home to Barbara Gordon, her ward Cassandra, and occasionally her friend Dinah. Like Wayne Manor, the clock tower can be seen, a glowing clock face in the evenings, feom nearly any point in the City. Barbara lives there and had her 'after-hours' office behind the clock face. It's there that she does all of her vigilante work. The clock tower is completely unaccesable to those who she doesn't want entering. Locks, codes, and booby traps guard all entrances, including windows.

The tower is on Institute Property.

» The Dock Area
Down by the docks lays The City's club life. If your child is missing on a Friday or Saturday night, that's generally where they'll be. There are under age clubs for those teens who'd like to have a good time, and then your normal twenty-one and older places. Docks in cities are notorious for their dodgy residents and not exactly safe areas, but The City likes to boast that it's docks are nothing like that! Still, if you're going partying, most cops in the area would recommend the buddy system.

Also notable are the amount of lead lined warehouses sitting close to the water. It's a fact any villain should take to heart.

» The Magic Box
The City's shop for magic and mischief. Whether you believe in magic or not, you can find just about anything you might need within reason; books on the occult and magic, artifacts, supplies and even items to purchase of a less than arcane nature. (Porcelain unicorns make a very popular gift!)

The shop was previously a pub in an L shaped layout. The cash register sits on the former bar and all the walls have been converted into book shelves. To the left is a large round table for patrons to study and read quietly at. Restricted and more rare books and items are kept in a loft area or behind the register. The very dangerous items are kept with the rest of overflow inventory in the basement. There's a training room for aspiring heroes in the back which leads to the alley. Above the shop is a tiny apartment for the owner of The Magic Box. The Magic Box has a very spotted past. It's owners have a life expectancy equivalent to a Spinal Tap drummer and it tends to get broken into frequently by evil doers.

» The Manchester
The Manchester is a building of Condos the looks to have been constructed in the mid-19th century. The outside features intricately designed features such as columns and gargoyles which watch over the passerbys in the street. Inside your character will find well appointed living spaces which are furnished to the character's taste by the City. Rent is expensive though, once you're in, so make sure to have a job! One cannot freeload off of the City forever.

It is by no means mandatory to live here, just another suggestion that won't jump around on you.

» The Swamp
The swamp borders the Bates Motel, so closely that it's waters lap up onto their lands. It's a large expanse of bayou and while it is for the most part barren, it does have a few inhabitants.

» Wayne Manor
The permanent home of Bruce Wayne the manor is described by most as 'stately' and sits on about eighty acres of land, just on the outskirts of the City Proper. The land has been in the Wayne family for years and the manor itself is nearly two hundred years old. The manor was built over a vast system of caves, which Bruce has utilized for his own after-hours needs. No one knows exactly which version of the fifty-two Gothams the manor is from, but judging by the highly advanced Bat Cave underneath, the manor came from a point in time when Bruce was extremely busy as his vigilante alter ego.

» Fangtasia
The first vampire-friendly bar in all of Louisiana. Owned and run by Eric Northman, a vampire himself. It is a place where you are bound to find vampires and fangbangers, as well as "normal" curious humans. A full compliment of alcohol is served, as well as Tru Blood, the Japanese synthetic blood. There are rooms away from the bar, Eric's office, a secret room containing coffins for him and special guests, powder rooms for the vampire and human dancers, and a basement where things happen that you may not want to be informed about.

» Caritas
The City's sanctuary. Caritas is a karaoke bar and club where you can get the best wings and Sea Breezes around--as well as a push in the direction you're meant to go, courtesy of the owner, Lorne, an empath demon. Doors open at 9, and the proprietor and staff ask that you read (and mind) the house rules. No violence of any kind is tolerated in Caritas; it's protected by magic that will not allow it. The club serves excellent mixed drinks, martinis and happy hour menu food. You must sing to receive Lorne's help or direction, and show up during business hours or risk facing a grumpy demon.

» The Sherwood Florist
The Sherwood Florist is a shop for all your flower-related needs. A sign that could be straight out of Robin Hood's middle ages proclaims the title of the shop, which also houses a one bed room apartment upstairs and a garage behind the shop. The Sherwood Florist does have a delivery driver, though deliveries may take longer due to the changing streets of the City.

...Any suggestions should be commented on below!
